As I mentioned in comments earlier it supports passthrough.

Well letās hope it has the Dolby vision license that is needed to pass through DV on a non supported SoC.
I have seen comments on YouTube and Reddit saying DV doesnāt play DV correctly but that is just hearsay.
I havenāt seen it tested and confirmed by any reviewer which I do find odd.
Their are lots files that do contain DV and it is the most commonly used codec used in high quality movies and TV show content.

Hi everyone.
Im currently using a buzz xrs4500 & am thinking of upgrading to a powerstation.
I dont think I need the unlimited, but would you advise on the 8 or 16 ram version ?

Either way DV isnāt any better than HDR, HDR10 or HDR10+. Which provide an amazing quality picture supported by an amazing streaming device with power to spare. Not sure if BuzzTV can add an update to enable the DV for those that demand it, but updates and added features are coming so Iāve been told.

I donāt think is as cut and dry as that. There are just too many factors that come into play: the content mastering, TV capabilities, player (box and software) capabilities etc. and then you get into the various Dolby Vision Profiles and then even into FEL vs. MEL. Dynamic metadata is definitely better than static metadata if the content is mastered correctly.
Full DV support would be great on the P6, especially at the price point, but nothing gives you everything. There is always something missing: audio codec, video codec, official app certification etc.
Iāve given up on a one box fits all approach. If anyone wants the very best picture quality, then there is no other choice than a CoreELEC box with full DV P7 FEL support. I use an Ugoos AM6B+. Its picture is noticeably better than any other player on some content (like I said it depends on the source file also). And I have/had most all of the player. ONN, Shield Pro, OSMC, Dune, ZIdoo, AppleTV etc. You also have to have a TV that will take advantage also and properly calibrated etc. All TVs that state HDR, Dolby Vision etc. are not the same. 2 TVs with the same thing on the box/marketing can have vastly different capabilities.
Then after all of that tech/spec stuff you come down to eyes and what anyone cares about. Mr. Magoo couldnāt enjoy HD much less HDR so why would it matter? Some people just donāt care, others spend a fortune chasing after the last little bit of diminishing returns. They are both right. Spend your money on what you want and enjoy, your time on this rock is limited and you canāt take your money or streaming box with you.
Happy Easter, remember the things that matter.

Many of the links will be a hybrid and should fallback to HDR or HDR 10 but it depends on how the file was encoded and the player you are using. I play Dolby Vision links all of the time on a monitor that is only rated for standard HDR. They look great and trigger HDR on the monitor. Every now and then I will find one that wonāt play correctly with either no picture or the distorted colors but there are ususally plenty of other DV/HDR links that will play.

I love the 4k DV/HDR sources. Seeing more and more as time goes on.

Hey just wanted to jump in and clarify a few things about Dolby Vision on the BuzzTV Powerstation series.
The Rockchip RK3588 doesnāt have native Dolby Vision support. Some people here mentioned passthrough and yes, thatās possible depending on your setup, but it relies on your TV or audio system doing the work, not the box itself.
Weāre not a massive company that can develop its own chipsets or get custom SoC builds. When we went with Rockchip, the focus was on performance, strong CPU, big RAM options, NVMe storage support. Itās the most powerful chipset weāve ever used and the first time weāve moved away from Amlogic. Every other BuzzTV box before the P6 was built on Amlogic.
That said, the P6 launch wasnāt exactly smooth. But weāve been steadily improving both the BuzzTV6 app and the firmware for the P6 series ever since. I think our ongoing updates and support speak for themselves.
And yes, we know the P6 isnāt cheap. These boxes are niche products, not mass-produced like most streaming boxes. Theyāre built in smaller batches which naturally drives up the cost, especially when you factor in the RK3588 chipset and the higher memory configurations we offer.
It may not check every single box for every person, but it checks a lot of them. And for those looking specifically for Dolby support, we are working on new models coming later this year. Theyāre not replacements or more powerful than the Powerstation series but they will offer their own strengths, especially when it comes to Dolby.
Canāt say more just yet but we appreciate the feedback and weāre always building and improving based on what we hear from the community.

@buzztvglobal Hello, do you guys post any kind of roadmap of what your plans are for future updates with the BuzzTV 6 Unlimited? I would be super interested on the future plans for this box!

And perhaps a place to suggest possible updates from those who have this box. Not that I have any now but it would also help them know what the users are experiencing.
We do have an internal roadmap for the BuzzTV6 app, Android OS updates, and upcoming models, but nothing we post publicly. The main reason is that unexpected issues can come up, which sometimes delay features or shift priorities. Weād rather not give out dates we might not be able to stick to.
Before releasing anything new, we always run it through our beta testers first, and that process alone can affect timelines depending on the feedback. So while weāre constantly working on improvements, we try to avoid promising anything until itās ready.

PapaS posted a link to our forum. Thereās a thread dedicated to feature suggestions for the BuzzTV6 app. Itās a great place to share ideas or feedback based on your experience with the box. We do check it and take suggestions into account when planning updates.

Mine is still on 225 and a check for update using the BuzzTV OTA gives me a āLatest Update Installedā notice. So must be rolling out in stages.
Iām on the same version as yours and the update hasnāt reached me yet

Greets,
First of all, I am sure I was a very early member.
Be that as it may, my SONY does most of what I need, internally. Needs a couple of Tb of external. Twin x 4 Tb would have been nice.
I do need a powerful Android box. I also need it to appear to be a super tablet to Playstore.
So, comments.
Power is great but it must load and run the drivers for CamRanger2 in a totally legit and supported manner. Canāt do it on the Sony despite the potential as an unbeatable monitor for tethered photography. Modern technical photography produces āStacksā of big files.
Big storage, 4Tb for starters.
USB 2 just not good enough. A new piece of kit deserves Thunderbolt.
Benchmark now is Wi - Fi 7. Disappointing.
Several concurrent connections would drag us back up to the '70s!
Internet connection plus a direct connection, minimum.
Possible with '486 machies and IBM 6150 / RS 2000.
Very tricky with a PC.
Also crucial is the ability to manipulate / modify PDF files.
Streaming, etc easy. Sony with Kodi does the job a treat.
Best Rgds.
Malcolm.
