I will say this, I am DONE with the Onn’s, switching back to the Firestick 4K.
I use an app that aggregates my legal TvEverywhere streams
and allows me to add legal m3u streams.
My original Onn’s had Android 11, they worked perfectly.
Now the old ones are Android 12, soon to be Android 14,
Plus I have the Pro, and a non Pro Google TV which is Google TV Android 12, soon to be Android 14.
They ALL now have various issues, the Google TV and the plain Android 12..
Within that app I have it set to Hardware decoding, and I can see details like fps and 1080/720, dropped frames, and video decoder in use.
All streams seem to be h264
I’M not sure of the exact combinations but HD streams in 1080 60fps sometimes won’t play, spinning circle.
Others play with dropped frames.
Many, most streams just seem to be a little juddery not a lot of dropped frames but enough to bother me.
NOTE: The Firestick 4K does not have these problems.

h.264 is widely used video codec and is supported on older and usually newer devices.
h.265 is a newer codec and may not be supported on older device.
Not sure if google see h.264 as important anymore because android 14 seems to have broken h.264 on some devices.
Hopefully they fix the issue for users.

Android tv 14 sure seems to have several issues when compared to some earlier versions. I wonder if they plan on fixing some of those bugs or leaving as is?

Take your time @Patachou . Get better and don’t worry about this stuff. Hard to think straight when you’re hurting. Sending well wishes.

Be careful my ONN box is Android 14 now I updated it and none of my Kodi n forks besides 19.5 will be given permissions. Even though I went to manage accesses and switched it on and even in manager apps turned on all accesses permissions useless be careful of Android 14
