I have a Mecool KM7 Plus and I use Kodi daily with Umbrella and Real Debrid. I do not have a single problem with anything playing. I installed Kodi from the Google play store and then Umbrella and Coco scrapers per Troy’s instructions. I use IPVanish set to Chicago and using WireGuard protocol. I am using Kodi Version 21.1 and Umbrella version 2.2.6. My Kodi resolution is set for 1080P. I do not have a 4K television. I have no real idea what is happening in your situation. The only thing I can think of is incompatible Kodi version with Unbrella version or a bad download. I would try to uninstall and re-install Kodi and Umbrella and Coco Scrapers. Unfortunately, I have no other suggestions. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some ideas.

Are you selecting your source to watch or is it set to auto play? Also what is you internet speed?

You may be watching, for example, an 80GB movie link and its slowing up your streaming. All the high end audio etc.

I try to keep my selections to about 20gb. Using a onn 4k pro most of the time with over 130 mbps speeds. Never have a problem.

It does seem odd that Stremio and IPTV are working fine but Kodi not so good.

Just curious, do you have Analiti, or something similar, to check your download speed? If not I would suggest starting there to see what your actual speed is, as mentioned by JPM69.

Also, just a shot in the dark, but have you tried using wifi instead of ethernet?

This is all great feedback. Tomorrow when I’m able to play around with this again I’ll check my speed, and consider trying Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet. I know my speed is dramatically lower with my VPN on but I have no problems at all streaming with Stremio so I didn’t think I’d require increased speed for Kodi. I also wonder if Umbrella isn’t ready to play nice with the 64 bit version of Kodi and maybe I should use the 32 bit version instead…?

Regardless, I’m new at Kodi so I’m still learning overall.

Thanks! I’ll report back.

Just curious so please indulge me. I have not tried Stremio, but from what I hear from my, highly trusted, very good friend in Canada, is that Stremio is the cats meow and Kodi is meh. Are you messing around with Kodi to just broaden horizons or is it more of a curiousity thing?

To manually change resolution.
System > Display = Ensure correct resolution is set.
Also I would think the P6 has a gigabit Ethernet port, so I personally would use Ethernet unless you have super fast fibre over 2gb connection.
I can stream large remux movies over 150gb in size on Kodi without issue and my connection is 910mb.

@Zebra3 …i am not a Kodi user, but i read (and try to understand) alot here on this site, so i’m just gonna throw this out there and if you haven’t done this and it helps then yea  , if not then no harm no foul…So you said-- (using Real Debrid)–but have have you authorized it in Kodi ? this step seems to be often overlooked, along with Real Debrid not being expired…

Long time KODI user (Since 2018). Currently using Umbrella in a Build with ONN 4K Pro on 300 MB Wireless - NO VPN here. Not sure why 1080P is coming up as default for you? When there is 4K that is always the first streams. Did you manually change your resolution settings? I never mess with any of those settings. If there are 4K sources they are always top of Real Debrid list in most Addons. This is definitely something going on your end as Umbrella has been working flawlessly for several months.

I had xbmc on the first Xbox.
That was my first experience of it and seems like a long time ago now lol.
It still has a strong community and some great devs that do it all for free.

Zebra3, as far as speed goes, I had to use ipvanish’s split tunneling.

Both. I’m also a huge Stremio fan but just want to see what Kodi is like so I have first hand experience to draw from. Plus it’s something new to learn. :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh it’s defaulting to 4K. I just couldn’t get any of the streams to play without incredible stuttering and freezing, so I scrolled down to see if the 1080p streams would play better, but I was surprised to see they didn’t. I’m going to work on this to try and get to the bottom of it.

Yep, I checked that after first installing RD and it was toggled on. I can see the streams are scraped by RD too. That’s a good point though, since without something like RD the streams would likely be lousy for the most part.

Can’t post more three times consecutively so I’m copying this update below.

I made tweaks to my VPN and it seems I’ve conquered the stutters and freezes. I think in the end, the problem was my VPN. (I know, I know MarkxG - :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

It’s definitely 4K and looks fantastic! I’m not worried anymore about the 1080p resolution Kodi thinks my TV is.

I was struggling with an ongoing audio issue too where some movies would play with no audio and some had a loud buzzing. I messed with the settings and I think I’ve conquered that too.

Now I can explore! I’m also going to play around with skins and maybe even try a build.

Kodi doesn’t recognise the resolution on your tv but you can set the Kodi UI resolution to match your display.
I did make a previous post on how to set resolution but you may have missed it.
To manually change resolution.
System > Display = Ensure correct resolution is set

I’m not able to change it. I go to that resolution setting at the top and it’s locked in. There’s no way to manually change it, and no other options there to select. All I can do it view it and then hit the cancel button. Doesn’t effect my movie playback because I’m getting 4K streams, so that’s good.

I’m starting to wonder if I’m encountering a couple small bugs with Kodi using the 64 bit version. My box can do 64 bit apps, but I may reinstall the 32 bit one to see if my overall experience is smoother.

In my searches I see you were a big fan of Grindhouse which looks awesome to me. I followed Troy’s video to install it but I’m getting the “Unable to Connect to Retrieve Directory Information” pop up. I know it’s not me. I even dumped Kodi and reinstalled, turned off VPN, internet is perfectly fine, and I know I typed it in correctly.

Is Grindhouse still kicking?

Yeah I been using Grindhouse Builds for over 5 years now. Same Dev and he is on top of things when they break. Not sure what Troy’s instructions are but I do know the URL was changed a while ago.

Index of /repo

There’s quite a few Builds for KODI 21. Personally I use the Cityscapes Build. I will say that Umbrella is not in his Builds so you will have to add that if you want to use it.

I’ve had the same issues just in the past week. I seem to only be able to watch 1080 and even then I have to switch streams sometimes 4 different choices to get the movies/tv shows to work. Then they buffer. I have the updated Kodi version also. Not sure WTH is happening.
